Projects

The majority of CiC’s projects involve to some degree partnerships with other agencies or Churches. It should also be noted that all projects by definition are in a state of flux, some are in the process of being developed, others are reaching the end of their lives.

The present projects are:

Time To Transform Our Communities – CiC have produced the Time to TOC website, which provides an exhaustive guide to good practice for any organisation aiming to work with young people. CiC can also offer specialised training courses and can accredit participants to OCN level. www.timetotoc.org.uk

CiC Volunteering Scheme – The CIC Volunteers Scheme is a Manchester based volunteer project, its aim is to provide volunteering opportunities to members of the Greater Manchester community, the opportunities we have on offer vary, but we mainly focus on providing placements to do with community support and support for vulnerable youth and adults. We are based in Hulme and presently work in Crupmsall, Hulme, Longsight and Moston; each project caters for residents with different support needs such as people with alcohol problems, people with mental health or mobility needs, BME communities, migrants and refugees. More information can be found on the CiC Volunteering Blog.

Community Safety network (CSN) – CSN like LSEN is funded by Working Neighbourhoods Fund and represent the community and voluntary sector at the police led Partnership Business Meeting and ensures that community concerns are acted upon.

Moston Lane Youth Project (MYP) – CiC employs a youth worker in conjunction with Moston Methodist Church who delivers four sessions a week providing quality services for around 120 young people in the Moston area of Manchester.

ECORYS – Grundtvig/Leonardo – CiC is a partner in two European funded initiatives exploring how faith groups can support vulnerable and disabled clients in accessing training and employment.

CiC is proud to be involved with both our Lifelong Learning Programme initiatives funded through the Grundtvig and Leonardo streams of our national agency Ecorys. These projects are geared to creat innovatice partnerships with our European counterparts in vocational employment related training.

Our Leonardo initiative is currently exploring the impact that faith organisations can make. We are working in partnership with Turkish, Austrian and German partners on this project. We have set up an IT tool for partners of the project to share information and you can link to the partnership website here.

Our Grundtvig initiative relates to disability and the barriers to employment. We are grateful to Ecorys for the support and assistance provided.

12 staff and volunteers have benefitted from mobilties organised through these programmes which has highlighted awareness and expand social horizons.

Rusholme & Fallowfield Good Neighbours Scheme

The Rusholme and Fallowfield Community Forum and Commitment in Communities (CiC) are working together to establish a Good Neighbour’s Scheme in the area.

We want the Good Neighbour’s Scheme to provide help and advice sessions as well as activities in local community facilities in the Rusholme and Fallowfield area. We want you to have your say in what type of activities you want. Our plan is initially to organise these activities around a coffee afternoon with speakers and discussion on what activities people want. We intend to establish a group of volunteers to help with these activities.

We also aim to be able to help people who are isolated members of our community with befriending visits to their home. For the more elderly and disabled in our community we plan to help with shopping and medical appointments and to assist with gardening. For those more active we provide gardening equipment which we hire out at reasonable rates.

To achieve all this we will need your help. We need members of the community to give up some of their time and become volunteers with LINK Good Neighbour’s. All volunteers will receive proper training and will undergo Criminal Record Bureau clearance.
